Do you create balance in your life or do you just hope it will happen between work and everything else you have going on each day? Finding balance in life can be tricky, so I believe it has to be purposeful. We don’t just fall into balance, we have to make it happen. Balance and self-care really shouldn’t be things that just sounds like great ideas, they should be essential to living a fulfilling and healthy life.
A perk in striving for balance is it forces you to look at your schedule and how you’re currently living. Is your calendar so packed seven days a week that you don’t have any downtime? Are you saying yes to too many activities or do you have your kids so overscheduled that no one has time to relax? Involvement in activities is a great thing, until it comes at the expense of our stress levels, self-care and health.
What’s on your list for life balance? Is it time to sit down and create a list? Get out paper and pencil or notes on your phone and start brainstorming. The awesome thing is it really doesn’t take much time to work self-care into your routine. And, we are blessed in the Pacific Northwest with beauty surrounding us for outdoor activities that force us to slow down and enjoy the scenery and the fresh air.

- Face mask
- Bubble bath
- Foot rub
- Buy yourself flowers
- Paraffin wax on hands and feet
- Deep breathing
- Craft project
Make your list work for you so you can insert balance and self-care into your life regularly according to your available time and energy. Good health and self-care will help you get more done in the long-run by increasing your energy levels and improving your overall vitality.
