Be Prepared, We’re Almost Half Way There

Organizing Tips Monika Kristofferson

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.”

 H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Wasn’t it just Christmas? If feels like it but it’s already almost half way through 2021. Can you believe it? It feels like it wasn’t long ago that I was creating my goals and plans for my business and my personal life for the new year. Now it’s time to evaluate where things are at because we’re just about at the halfway point for the year. It’s time to gear up and prepare for more success for the second half of the year!

This is a great time to review your goals for the current year. Hopefully you wrote them down somewhere and you can go back and read what you wrote. Even better, hopefully you’ve been looking at them on a regular basis. But now that we’re about half way there, this is a great time to see if what you thought you wanted for this year is still what you want.

Ask yourself:

  • Whether you have a course correction to make for your goals. Maybe something no longer makes sense.
  • Can you cross some off because you’ve already accomplished them?
  • Can you cross some off because you’ve decided not to pursue them?
  • Do you have new goals you’d like to add for the next six months?

This is a great time to evaluate your fianancial goals:

  • Are you on track to meet your income goal?
  • Are you on track to save up for something important:
    • A marketing campaign
    • A big networking event
    • A new website
    • New equipment like a computer, microphone, projector or lighting
  • Are you putting money away for your future for retirement and investments?
    • Maybe your first goal is to set up a meeting with a financial planner
  • Are you working on paying off debt or becoming debt-free?
  • Do you need to boost your business income to meet your goals in the second half of the year?
    • By contacting current and past clients
    • By asking for referrals
    • By creating a marketing campaign
  • Do you need to meet with your tax preparer to make sure you’re on target for your tax payments in relation to your income this year so you don’t have any surprises at tax time?

This is a great time to evaluate your return on investment/ROI.

  • It’s time to take a look at how you’ve spent your valuable time and money so far this year
  • It’s important to know if where you spend your time, energy and money is paying off in some way. Enough that you’d like to continue or repeat the experience:
    • By making connections
    • By creating relationships
    • By making money-selling or getting new clients
    • By receiving information/education
  • Evaluate whether your events were valuable enough that you would:
    • Host it again yourself?
    • Attend it again?
  • Evaluate your marketing efforts:
    • Is there something that worked great:
      • A video series
      • Making phone calls
      • A postcard mailer
      • Networking in person

Action Items

  1. Review your goals
  2. Review your financial situation
  3. Review ROI for your time, energy and effort
  4. Decide where you want to make adjustments

“Spectacular achievement is always preceded by unspectacular preparation.”
