Celebrate Your Success in Business

Monika Kristofferson Efficient Organization

“Celebrate each accomplishment on your way to reaching your goal. Each challenge conquered whether large or small is a positive step to greatness.”

Robert Cheeke

If you’re running a business, you know how hard it is. The ups, the downs, and the uncertainty that comes with having a business can take a toll on the best of us. So when we have successes, we should be celebrating! It’s not boastful or selfish, it’s what helps keep us going through the more difficult times and reminds us why we love what we do. Celebrating success puts us in a positive, success mindset and success breeds more success. You can certainly celebrate quietly on your own, but celebrating publicly allows people to share in your joy and can be motivating to others as well. They want success too and if you’re authentic, people want to be happy for you as well.

One way to celebrate successes that you’ve accomplished is to write them down. Writing things down forces us to stop for a minute to “see” what we’ve gotten done instead of just plowing along. Because when it’s written down, it’s in black and white and we can also go back and review it later. We’ve got proof! You can use a journal, an app or write it in your planner. Just make sure you’re being consistent in the medium you choose. Something I like to do is write things down on small pieces of paper and then place them in a jar. On New Year’s Eve I review all of them. I call it my “Jar of Awesome!” It’s a great way to wrap up the year and get ready for the new one.

The sky’s the limit on how you choose to celebrate your successes. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:

Smaller Successes:

  • Cup of your favorite coffee
  • Take a nap
  • A bubble bath
  • Pedicure
  • High-five someone who supports you

Large successes/completion of a goal:

  • Weekend away
  • Dinner out with champagne
  • Throw a party

Be sure that you celebrate success to see yourself as successful and to keep yourself in the success mindset!

“Don’t wait until you reach your goal to be proud of yourself. Be proud of each step you take toward reaching that goal.”
