New bag!

I’ve had a lot of work bags over the years, but I went too far with my last bag… It was a sturdy Patagonia bag with an organizer inside, but it was too small, far too small. Being minimalist isn’t always best. My organizing supplies fit inside, but as soon as I needed something, I was digging around looking for what I needed. At the end of each appointment, I found myself just throwing everything back inside haphazardly and then taking the time to straighten it up when I got home.

Old bag vs. new bag…yikes

I was working with one of my clients and talking about how my bag wasn’t working and she suggested a sewing bag. I had looked at scrapbooking bags, which didn’t pan out, but I had never considered a sewing bag. I suppose since I don’t sew, it just didn’t cross my mind. I looked at sewing bags online, but I knew I would need to go look a them in person for a better feel for the features I need. So I masked up and off to Joann Fabric I went.

Look at all of this room for my supplies!

Eureka-a sewing bag is the perfect solution! It’s roomy, it’s on wheels that turn 360 degrees, it has lots of zippered pockets and plenty of space to add extras like a water bottle.

Things that you can find in my bag:

  • Label maker: Brother P-Touch
  • White garbage bags
  • Paper bags for recycle & shred papers
  • Black bags for donations
  • A small, clear container for the items I use all the time: scissors, stapler, letter opener, identity stamper, Sticky notes, Sharpies & pens
  • A file box holding the labels I commonly use during decluttering sessions
  • Zippered pockets with items that I use less frequently like Scotch tape, paper clips, battery tester and bandaids
  • A front pocket with hand wipes, hand sanitizer, mask and gloves
  • A side pocket with shipping tape and extra label tape
  • Yet another side pocket with snacks and a clip for my keys and storage space for my phone

My every day must haves!

I’ve been doing this for a long time and I still have needs that change. So don’t be afraid to make a change if a system you’re using isn’t working well for you. It doesn’t mean it’s a failure. It could just be that it wasn’t quite the right fit or your needs shifted or you outgrew a system. Give all systems a fair shake, but don’t be afraid to make adjustments or changes.
